Casbah (11/19/07)

It was the best of times, it was the worst- no, it was just the best. Hollywood Begs played our last show as a San Diego band at the Casbah on Monday, November 19th with Firethorn, Nautical Disaster and KZO Rock. A wonderful night is an understatement becuase a ton of people showed up (ON A MONDAY!) and all the bands were at their best.
About the Begs' set:
CONS: set was cut short, forced to omit "In the Company" and garage-rockin' version of Tom Waits' "Jockey Full of Bourbon." sound guy was perfect through the first four jams, then lost his touch for the 2nd four...i couldn't hear shit, resulting in a few bad notes.
PROS: got to play the final SD show with my good friends Andy Kondrat and Keith Haman, but most importantly it was likely the last time i'll share the stage with my brother Kevin -- who is coincidently my favorite drummer i've ever played with. Kevin's amazing because he doesn't know more than 3 punk rock songs, more than 5 punk/garage rock bands, yet can play like he's a 20-year-veteran of the genre. i'll never understand it, but i'll always gladly accept it.
Seattle Update: gathering new musicians is underway as i sit in my little seattle hotel room and try and land a means of income and shelter for 2008. HB will be riding the no-bullshit speed train to raw, fast rock n' roll immediately. seriously. the live show deadline is tentatively set for late march.
Tunes update: before i leave sandy eggo, i will be blasting, recording, cutting and mixing ONE song with mr. mark cofer. the dive bar, spleen-leakin' onslought known as "pain boogie."
